For One More Day

For One More Day

by Mitch Albom

This is my very first attempt in writing a review on a book I’ve read, though I’ve presented on book review previously. Please forgive if the review is not up to your expectations as I’m still trying to grasp the whole idea of writing a review on the books I’ve read.

This book is uplifting and easy read. The story began with this character, by the name of Chick Benetto who wanted to end his life so much because of setbacks encountered. Somehow, that failed and he encountered his mum’s “ghost” instead.

From here, Chick and his mum revisited the days where his mum had to struggle raising him and his sister while his father abandoned them. Facing humiliation from the divorce, Chick’s mum braves through and worked hard to pay for the children’s education. However, Chick turned out to be a demanding child and was unappreciative for his mum’s care and thoughtfulness.

They went on to discover the many hidden truth which chick did not get a chance to understand at that time. It was through this that Chick regretted his actions in the past and realized the true meaning of life.

As I read this book, I wondered if we’ll regret for things that we have or have not done. Will there ever be one more day just like in the story where we can realize our mistakes and make the best out of everyday in life.
